Donate Things to Those Who Need Them

Many, many people are suddenly out of work. The schools are closed and children who relied on school meals largely have been left empty-handed. And most of our county’s homeless are still homeless. Please consider donating to these organizations to help out.

The Upper Room Dining Hall

They are preparing box meals daily and delivering them to the local homeless camps. They welcome items in individual packets, and things that do not require heating and cooking. See the attached list. Kathleen Barco will come to your home to pick up your donation if you live along the Hwy 50 corridor between Pollock Pines and Cameron Park or you can deliver the food yourself. They are also very short of funds because their fundraisers have been cancelled—donations of money are welcomed! In addition to food items (see attached list), they also are requesting used paperback/hardbound books, travel-size toiletries and personal hygiene supplies. To contact Kathleen for a pick-up, write to eldoradoprogressives@gmail.com. Also, all of the Upper Rooms fundraisers have been cancelled and they would greatly appreciate your monetary donation. See the front page of their website.

Help Immigrant Families

EDP’s Allied with Immigrants Workgroup has joined an effort to help gather food and supplies and deliver them to immigrant families that are out of work and have no government aid. We can really use help gathering food right now. If you are able to help we will be scheduling drop-off points in Placerville. We are already supporting 20 families in Placer and El Dorado Counties. Please see the AWI flyer for more information.

Do you know other organizations providing special services that should be listed on this page? Send the information to eldoradoprogressives@gmail.com.
