What's Going on with our Healthcare?

Our Health Care system continues to be discussed and debated. 

How can we make it better while assuring affordable, quality healthcare for all while controlling costs and reducing waste?

Program:

• Jen Flory, Esq, Western Center on Law and Poverty, our local health care policy expert, will discuss what California is doing to maintain and improve our Health Care system.

• Short Movie:  Key facts about our Health Care system and the Single Payer Option starring Ed Weisbart, MD, Physicians for a National Health Plan

• Maureen Dion-Perry, MPH, will discuss the options proposed by various Presidential candidates to improve our Health Care System, including:

• Expanded Medicare for All

• Public Option for Medicare Expansion

• Medicare Advantage for All

• Sarah Saunders, RN, member, California Nurses Association, will discuss "A Just Transition" from where we are…to where we want to go.

6:00 - 6:30 p.m.: Pre-meeting social (no host bar/appetizers—the Saloon will have their Taco Tuesday $2 tacos and beer specials until 7:00 p.m.)  

6:30 - 7:45 p.m.: Presentation: "What's Going On With Our Health Care?" presented by Jen Flory, Esq. and Maureen Dion-Perry, MPH. The presentation will include the film, "Fix It: Healthcare at the Tipping Point," and information on single payer health care/Medicare for All. Find out: What's happening with health care in California/nationally? What is single payer health care? Will it raise my taxes? Who will run the healthcare system? How will it be paid for? How will it affect doctors and hospitals? Q&A and discussion to follow.

7:45 - 8:00 p.m.: Closing remarks: announcements, updates, upcoming actions, and Q&A.  

Note: the El Dorado Saloon is allows us to use their restaurant space in exchange for our patronage. If you are able, please order a beverage (non-alcoholic or alcoholic) and/or menu item. You can enjoy drinks/food before and/or during the meeting. Thank you.
