EDP to Observe Juneteenth

  • Placerville Town Hall 549 Main Street Placerville, CA, 95667 United States (map)

The monthly meeting of the El Dorado Progressives will honor the holiday of Juneteenth.

Juneteenth recognizes the events of June 19, 1865, when a Union army general announced in Texas that the war had ended and the slaves had been emancipated in January 1863.  For most, it was the first they’d heard of their freedom.

At the meeting, the film “Brown Eyes, Blue Eyes” will be shown with small group exercises and discussion afterward.

All are welcome.
